Can Triazicide Be Put In A Vegetable Garden

  1. I have a ant and bug problem. I bought 3 bags of
Spectracide triazicide insect killer once and done granules. I read the bag and it says nothing about anything other than your lawn. So can I also put it in the garden ..OR.. if some gets in there by accident will it be OK?

I use an Ortho Fire Ant powder it also takes care of other types of ants. Since you sprinkle it on the mound there is not as much problem with it getting on plants.

What kind of bugs? A broad-spectrum insecticide like you have used is going to take out a lot of beneficial bugs too. If the package doesn't say specifically that it is safe to use on veggie gardens then it shouldn't be used there. Find a good organic pest killer for the veggies.

I've used Spectracide in some containers and no harm was done to the plant.
  4. Thanks. I thought about it and already did my yard but stayed away from my garden just to make sure..You know better safe than sorry. So I will try and look for something better for the garden. thanks!

Toni- I'm not sure but the 3 most found daily are..

Not sure what they are called but look like roaches that are small and only seem to come out when there is motion in the ground like yard work. Mowing, weeding, digging...

the other is spiders. found 2 inside this year..YUCK!

And then ants. Both fire and others. One bit my 2 year old daughter today. That is the main reason for the killing!

Those are the ones that I see. I'm sure there are more not knowing if they are good or bad.

  5. yes, better safe than sorry. I agree, good choice.

Commercial traps that contain a substance attractive to pests are another alternative. Homemade traps such as containers with soapy water or sugar water can be set out near vegetable plants. Bugs that fall into the water end up drowning. Natural predators such as praying mantises and spiders may be introduced into a vegetable garden to control the bug population by survival of the fittest.
